If it feels like your bills are piling up, there is a new program that can help.
SaskPower’s Energy Assistance Program can help low-income customers reduce their bills by making their home more energy efficient.
Here is how it works: Home Energy Advisors will visit your home and complete a walk through assessment. They will perform free upgrades. This includes installing a smart thermostat, LED light bulbs, smart power strips, a clothing dryer rack, high-efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators.
Please note that home visits from Home Energy Advisors will be completed with COVID-19 safety precautions in place.
“High utility bills can be stressful — so we’re pleased to offer this new program to help alleviate some of those pressures,” said Shawn Schmidt, vice president of customer services and distribution. “Qualifying customers can save up to $230 on their utility bills annually by making their homes more energy efficient.”
The program is available to SaskPower customers who are homeowners or renters who meet the income criteria.
The program will run until March 31, 2023 or until funding is spent. It is funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Low Carbon Economy Fund.
