Another scam is making the rounds, so be sure to protect your personal information.

SaskEnergy is warning customers of a potential telemarketing scam.

The Crown corporation has received reports that individuals are contacting customers claiming to be associated with either SaskEnergy or the federal government. They supposedly have information regarding a customer's eligibility for various rebates. These rebates includes the carbon tax, furnace replacement, and equipment maintenance.

These individuals are not associated with SaskEnergy and are not offering rebates on behalf of the organization.

SaskEnergy advises customers that any potential rebates are not offered through solicitation or door-to-door sales. All SaskEnergy rebates are offered through participating SaskEnergy Network Members only.

For more information about SaskEnergy current rebates and programs, and a list of qualified Network Member companies, visit www.saskenergy.com.

SaskEnergy says that anyone who has received what they suspect is a fraudulent call should make a report to the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) of the Government of Saskatchewan at 1-306-787-5645 or 1-877-880-5550 (menu option #1).

If you have provided personal financial information, including bank account or credit card information over the phone, you should report the matter to local law enforcement. You should also contact your financial institution immediately.

Meanwhile, SaskTel is also offering tips to protect customers from scammers. A similar rebate scheme is also targeting SaskPower customers.
