WILCOX — SaskEnergy will conduct a controlled natural gas flare at a town border station in Wilcox on Tuesday, June 24.

The flaring will take place from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Avenue and Range Road 2205, weather and operational conditions permitting.

A 40-foot flame may be visible during the procedure as gas is safely burned from the pipeline. This is a standard industry practice used to remove natural gas from an isolated section of line for maintenance work.

The process supports the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas and reduces the carbon footprint of the vented gas by approximately 85 per cent.

Trained personnel will monitor the site to ensure public safety. Residential gas service will not be affected by the work.

SaskEnergy has informed the Village of Wilcox, its Fire Department, and the RM of Bratt’s Lake about the planned activity.
