The furnace Tune-Up Assistance program offered by SaskEnergy and it's associated contractors will be returning to help out Saskatchewan residents once again this year.
After assisting 401 homeowners with the maintenance of their natural gas home heating systems and carbon monoxide detection last year, the tune-up program is looking to increase the number of homeowners it can help this year.
SaskEnergy offers the program to low-income homeowners to show them a hands-on examination of their furnace, to determine if it is in need of maintenance or cleaning.
The idea is to offer help and also remind homeowners of the importance of proper furnace maintenance, especially during the winter heating season
Homeowners who are selected for the program receive a free furnace tune-up, a carbon monoxide alarm, two furnace filters, and up to $100 in repairs if they are required.
“The Tune Assistance Program provides SaskEnergy with a great opportunity to give back to communities across Saskatchewan,” said Samantha Gross, Customer Solutions Leader. “We want our customers to be aware of the importance of furnace maintenance and carbon monoxide detection. Annual tune-ups help ensure natural gas heating equipment is running safely and efficiently, which also reduces the risk of costly repairs in the future.”
Applications to be a part of TAP are now open and available to homeowners in communities with SaskEnergy tune-up partners — including Moose Jaw, and communities within a 20-kilometre radius. The deadline to apply is Aug. 7, with the program beginning Aug. 10.
