Saskatchewan Air Show: Sights from Saturday

More than 25,000 people take in first day of performances at 15 Wing

It's only been one day, but it's safe to say the Saskatchewan Air Show is a massive, unbridled hit.

More than 25,000 people packed 15 Wing for first Moose Jaw air show in 14 years, prompting organizers to actually close the gates in order to prevent overcrowding. And what the sea of humanity witnessed was worth the wait and any inconvenience that might have come out of the day.

Performers ranging from the Jelly Belly stunt plane to the CF-18 demonstration squad and, of course, the Snowbirds put on an impressive series of aerobatics and skills as they gave fans a show for the ages.

And when folks weren't looking to the sky, there was plenty to do on the ground with a wide array of military vehicles, planes and equipment on the 15 Wing tarmac for patrons to interact with.

The best part? It all goes again Sunday, starting with the gates opening at 9 a.m., beer garden at 11 a.m. and first performances at 12 p.m.

With the huge crowds, parking and traffic were naturally an issue on the first day. To avoid those difficulties, consider taking alternate transportation to the show if you're heading out Sunday.
