Sask Polytech celebrates class of ’25 at Temple Gardens Centre convocation

The Temple Gardens Centre was filled with applause and cheers recently as Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrated its 2025 graduating class at its Moose Jaw campus

MOOSE JAW — The Temple Gardens Centre was filled with applause and cheers recently, as Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrated its 2025 graduating class at its Moose Jaw campus.

Held in two separate ceremonies — one at 9 a.m. and the second at 1:30 p.m. — the day honoured hundreds of students representing a wide spectrum of disciplines, from civil engineering to creative media and business management.

Graduates were recognized from 10 academic schools, including the School of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Sustainability, the School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and the School of Computing and Digital Innovation, among others. Each school presented its graduates one by one, with the audience encouraged to cheer and join in the applause the moment each name was called.

The ceremony acknowledged both academic achievement and personal perseverance. Faculty speakers shared words of encouragement, noting the role that diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and technological skills will play in shaping each graduate’s path ahead.

“Each of you brings a unique voice and perspective,” one speaker said during the afternoon ceremony, noting that the students’ contributions will enrich workplaces, communities, and everyone’s shared future.

In a gesture of cultural recognition, each graduate crossing the stage received a parchment holder featuring a Dakota flower design — an Indigenous motif symbolizing personal growth and success.

Convocation is an annual event that brings the entire Sask. Polytech community together to celebrate the achievements of its recent graduates and is traditionally held in June.

The occasion recognizes those extraordinary individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and embodied the institution’s vision, mission, and values, according to an official statement. The school’s vision is “to empower a better Saskatchewan” and its mission is “to inspire success in every learning journey.”

Sask. Polytech forms an integral part of Saskatchewan’s economic growth by preparing graduate students who are qualified, work-ready, and trained in high-demand fields. The institution currently has a 95 per cent graduate employment rate, 92 per cent Indigenous graduate employment rate, and one out of every 19 jobs in the province is supported by the school’s activities.

“I encourage each one of you to make your mark and to continue to embrace Sask. Polytech’s RISE values: respect, integrity, sustainability, and excellence,” Dr. Rosia said earlier.

“Use your skills and Sask. Polytech’s values to change the world and our communities in your own way,” he continued. “Congratulations! I wish you every success on your career journey.”

During the afternoon portion of the convocation, another speaker took a moment to reflect on the impact of the student journey from the faculty’s perspective.

“On behalf of my Sask. Polytech colleagues, it has been our privilege to serve you each day to bring you closer to your career goals, and ultimately to help you cross this stage,” she said. “You are an inspiration to us all.”
