Sacred Heart Community School has declared two outbreaks of COVID-19 in separate classrooms, according to public health’s active outbreaks list.

On June 13, outbreaks were officially declared in the Grade 5 and Grade 6 classrooms at the elementary school.

As defined by public health, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more individuals who are linked to a public setting or event test positive for COVID-19.

Sacred Heart had previously reported positive COVID-19 cases within its facility on June 10 and June 12, before moving onto the outbreak list.

Within the last week, Lindale School has also reported one positive case, St. Agnes reported one case and William Grayson reported four cases of COVID-19.

Several other Moose Jaw schools also remain on the active outbreaks list this week, including William Grayson School, Prince Arthur Community School and St. Michael School.

Contact tracers will be in contact with anyone who may have been exposed in relation to the new outbreak.

Public health reminds residents to continue to practice the recommended safety measures and contact HealthLine 811 if COVID-19 symptoms appear.
