Riders remain perfect, beat Ottawa 23-10

Five field goals and a touchdown from Fajardo seal the victory

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are off to a perfect 3-0 start to the Canadian Football League season.

The Riders beat the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday 23-10 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

The win follows a pair of victories against the B.C. Lions and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Riders are currently on top of the Western Division.

Quarterback Cody Fajardo led the way for the green and white. He went 30-35 on the evening for 321 yards. He also rushed for 47 yards, scoring one touchdown.

Meanwhile, kicker Brett Lauther had five field goals to help guide the offence.

The defence also had a great game, combining for six sacks.

Matt Nichols got the start for the Redblacks. He went 19-24 for 176 yards with one interception.

Ottawa's record is now 1-1.

Saskatchewan's next game will be the Labour Day Classic against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 5.
