Start your engines and mark your calendars for this year’s Bent Wrench Run, which is set to take place on Father’s Day and offers an ideal outing for dad courtesy of “Those Guys Car Club” featuring around 200 new, classic, and vintage automobiles he’s sure to love.
The upcoming show will take place at the Wakamow Valley oval on Sunday, June 16, and runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission for spectators.
“(The show aims to) celebrate Father’s Day, raise some money for Hunger in Moose Jaw, and just some time for us (car enthusiasts) to get together, meet up, and have a good day,” explained Kevin Kincaid, the club’s president.
“And for people that like to look at cars, there’s an opportunity for them to come and check them out,” he added.
Those Guys Car Club is a local automotive club that’s been together for around 11 years and exists to provide a venue for car enthusiasts to meet up, talk about what they love, and raise money for local charities.
“We’re a few guys that have car interests – some classic, some modern – and we like to go to car shows,” Kincaid said. “We like going to other people’s stuff… so (we figured) maybe we should give them something back.”
There won’t be any planned demonstrations or contests this year, but there will be 13 categories on which static car displays will be judged. There’ll be around 30 to 40 door prizes available to be won and all registrants will be entered to win a prize.
The event will feature plenty of good eating with vendors such as Johnny Beam with Taco Time, The Cone Artist, Top Dogs, and Blue Angel mini donuts scheduled to attend.
Running Wild Rescue will be bringing some of its four-legged friends for people to visit with and the Shriners will be there selling raffle tickets. As well, Bend M Up Metal Art, The Mac Tool Truck, and representatives of the Next Gen Car Club are all planning to set up a vending table.
The event promises to be an ideal way to spend the day with dad while immersed in an atmosphere of polished chrome, classic cars, and vintage rides.
“It’s a great day for family bonding if you’ve got the automotive bug,” Kincaid said. “It’s also a great time to go out and catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while.”
The entry fee is $20 per vehicle, and event organizers ask that this fee be paid in cash on or before the date of the show.
Spectators of all ages can attend the show free of charge, and a variety of food and beverage vendors will be available onsite throughout the day. Kincaid has confirmed that the show will proceed as planned come rain or shine.
