Moose Jaw will be one of the next centres to open a drive-through vaccine clinic, possibly as early as April

The drive-through vaccine clinic in Regina opened on March 15, delivering AstraZeneca vaccines.

In a COVID-19 update provided on March 25, the Saskatchewan Health Authority confirmed that Moose Jaw will be one of the next communities to see a drive-through vaccine clinic open in the province.

SHA CEO Scott Livingstone said that the health authority is working on opening three new drive-through clinic sites in Saskatchewan in the next few weeks, to continue delivering the AstraZeneca vaccine to residents.

Moose Jaw was named as one of the cities preparing to open such a clinic, alongside Yorkton and Saskatoon. These clinics will join the site already in Regina, which is temporarily shut down while awaiting more vaccines.

SHA emergency operations centre lead Derek Miller said that opening dates for these new clinics will be reliant on when the next batch of AstraZeneca vaccines is delivered, but that it will hopefully be soon.

“The drive-throughs that we’re planning right now are mainly coming online, most of them, in early April,” said Miller.

More drive-through sites are also planned, which will be set up in seasonal locations that will be reliant on the weather.
