Public health reports COVID-19 outbreak at Moose Jaw Families for Change

Public health has announced a COVID-19 outbreak in Moose Jaw at a non-profit day program centre, bringing the city’s total active outbreaks to 11. 

According to public health, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more individuals who are linked to a public setting or event test positive for COVID-19. 

Moose Jaw Families for Change was declared the site of a COVID-19 outbreak on May 6, joining nine other currently listed outbreak locations.

Central Collegiate, South Hill Fine Foods and Chez Nous senior care home declared outbreaks on May 2, and St. Michael Elementary School on April 28.

SARCAN in Moose Jaw declared an outbreak on April 27 and has remained closed to the public since.

Earlier in April, the McDonald’s location on Thatcher Drive declared an outbreak on April 23, Gibson Energy refinery in Moose Jaw and Simpson Seeds on April 20, the CP Rail locomotive shop in Moose Jaw on April 13, Accent Massage & Hairstyling on April 6, and Main Street Strength & Conditioning on March 30. All outbreaks remain on the active outbreak list.

Lindale School also reported one positive case of COVID-19 in its facility on May 2.

Contact tracers will be in contact with anyone who may have been exposed in relation to the new outbreaks. 

Public health reminds residents to continue to practice the recommended safety measures and contact HealthLine 811 if COVID-19 symptoms appear.
