UPDATE: The test came back negative. The staff member is recovering from the flu at home.

A letter has been sent to parents of students in Prairie South School Division (PSSD) that a staff member has been tested for COVID-19.

The results of the test are not yet known. In the meantime, this individual is in self isolation.

Tony Baldwin, director of education for PSSD says, despite this challenge, everything remains "business as usual."

"The person has done exactly what they are supposed to do; they called HealthLine and went for a test. It's two or three days, so they are self-isolating while they wait for the test."

Meanwhile, those who were in close proximity with the individual in question are self-monitoring for symptoms.

Baldwin says classes will continue as scheduled and adds they are a "long way away" from cancelling classes.
