Now that the dust has started to settle on the federal election, the question remains: how did the federal party leaders do?

According to an Angus Reid opinion poll, there is growing concern that Andrew Scheer is not the right person to lead the Conservative Party — although opinions are admittedly mixed.

Approximately 41 per cent of Conservative voters want Scheer to stay on as leader of the party, compared to 42 per cent who want him to step down.

Voters in the east are more likely to want a new leader (45 per cent of respondents want Scheer to step down, as opposed to 39 per cent who want him to stay on) than in the west (42 per cent remain versus 38 per cent step down).

To compare, 85 per cent of Liberal supporters want Justin Trudeau to stay on as leader of the party, while 87 per cent of NDP voters support Jagmeet Singh.

The poll also looked at the results of the election. Not surprisingly, 57 per cent of voters in Saskatchewan and Manitoba were very unhappy with the result.
