It was likely the final cookout of the season.
The Moose Jaw Police Service held a free community barbecue today. The event was originally supposed to be held in Crescent Park back on Sept. 10 but had to be re-scheduled due to rain.
The barbecue was held from 11:30 to 1 p.m. in the police parking lot.
It was a good turnout, with a steady line of people waiting for either a hamburger or hot dog.
"It is one of our largest events for the year," said spokesman Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth, who noted this has become an annual event. "This is important, We make it a priority to hold this."
Hosting a community barbecue is a good way to re-connect with residents and create new relationships, he added. Sometimes it takes much work to maintain relationships with the public.
