UPDATED: Police arrest suspect in homicide case, continue to investigate

One man has been arrested in connection with a homicide.

Yesterday afternoon, at approximately 3:20 p.m., the Moose Jaw Police Service received a 911 call regarding an assault on the 0 block Stadacona St. W. Upon arrival, police and EMS found a male who had been stabbed.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, died at the scene.
 
Police were then able to locate the suspect, a 33-year-old man, at a residence on the 400 block of Ominica St. East.

The suspect had barricaded himself in the residence and would not surrender himself. 

Police ultimately received assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Unit (ERT). At approximately 3 a.m. this morning, RCMP ERT members entered the residence and arrested the male without further incident. 

No further details have been released.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact the Moose Jaw Police Service at 306-694-7600.

Update:

MJPS has identified the victim as 33-year-old Shaun Holmes of Moose Jaw. 

The suspect in custody has also been identified as Vincent William Picken, 33, of Moose Jaw. Picken appeared in provincial court this afternoon, to face charges of one count of second degree murder and several breaches of court orders.
