The Moose Jaw Police Service has charged Zachary German with offences related to child pornography after the agency conducted investigations earlier this year.
The police service charged German, 22, with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of sharing/making available child pornography after looking into the uploading and sharing of illegal images and videos through a messaging application.
In early 2022 the police worked with the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit and executed a search warrant at German’s home. There, officers found devices belonging to the man that they seized for further forensic analysis. That analysis revealed evidence of child porn was on the devices.
The police have released German on a release order in Moose Jaw with several conditions including not to possess or access devices that connect to the internet and to have no contact with anyone under age 16.
German will appear in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on March 20, 2023.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
