Pee Wee Mustangs 1 open season with impressive win

Nine-goal effort from Pladson leads Moose Jaw to 15-7 win over Estevan
The Moose Jaw Lacrosse Association made it three-for-three in season openers on Saturday afternoon, as the Pee Wee I Mustangs rolled to a 15-7 win over the Estevan Voltz in their first game of the South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League season at the Kinsmen Sportsplex.

And much like their counterparts in the Midget and Bantam divisions, things were a touch close in the early going before a second period surge led to them pulling away.

Brodyn Pladson tried his best to keep it from being that way in the first period, as he scored his teams first five goals – the last four of them in the final 7:30 of the period – before the Mustangs’ overall balance took over the contest.

Pladson finished the contest with nine goals and an assist, while Roman Markin scored three times and added a helper. Carter Hudyma, Nash Williams and Brooklyn Hrynkiw all added single goals as the Mustangs led 5-3 after the first and 9-4 through two periods.

Brayden Mitchell was the winning goaltender.

The Pee Wee Mustangs 1 are back in action May 1 when they take on the Pee Wee 2 Mustangs at the Kinsmen Sportsplex. Game time is 7 p.m.

Lacrosse fans will have a pair of games to take in on Sunday, as the Pee Wee Mustangs 2 take on the Estevan Voltz at 11:15 a.m., followed by the Moose Jaw Chiefs senior team playing their first Prairie Gold Lacrosse League contest against the Saskatoon Plainsmen at 1 p.m.
