The $5 bills were flowing freely at the Christmas bake walk sponsored Nov. 23 by the Order of Eastern Star.
Tables were lined with dozens of cookies — chocolate chip, peanut butter, macaroons, lemon crinkles, tarts and so many more — plus a special display of homemade candy.
Shoppers were supplied with containers and allowed to make their selections before turning in the containers at the pay table where each container sold for $5.
The general agreement was the money was well-spent for homemade cookies and candy, with a feeling that only a few might make it to Christmas Day.
Cathy Forrester and Lloyd Pethick were in charge of the container distribution and payment table, Elaine Lucas and Cheryle Svab looked after the candy table while other members assisted at the various cookie tables.
