Gil Dash and Marie Wright are going for gold at the World Wheelchair Curling Championship.
The Moose Jaw Curling Centre duo and Team Canada took a 5-2 victory over Scotland in the semifinal in Richmond, B.C. on Saturday afternoon, booking their spot in the championship final against China on Sunday.
Dash is throwing second for Team Canada alongside fourth Jon Thurston, third Ina Forrest and skip Mark Ideson, with Wright acting as the team’s fifth player.
Things were close in the early going between the two teams, as they exchanged single points in the third and fourth ends to head into the fifth tied 1-1. Canada took control from there, though, putting up a deuce and following with a crucial steal of two in the sixth for a 5-1 edge.
Scotland got one back in the seventh, but Canada played a solid final end with the hammer, and when Forrest chipped out a Scotland counter in the eight-foot with her final rock, they were off to the final.
There, Canada will face a Chinese foursome that has been dynamite all tournament, finishing with a 10-1 round-robin record and taking a 5-2 win over Sweden in their semifinal.
Canada was 9-2 in the round robin and dropped an 8-4 decision to China when the two teams met in the very first draw of the tournament back on Mar. 4.
