CurlSask announced Friday morning that the men’s and women’s South qualifying tournaments scheduled for the local rink had been cancelled due to the rapidly growing COVID-19 outbreak in the province.
Mosaic Place curling programmer Rhonda Wenarchuk said the move was made out of an abundance of caution, with officials reluctant to gather 10 teams from all over southern Saskatchewan in one venue given the rise in coronavirus cases in the province.
There are over 260 active cases of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Saskatchewan as of Friday, Nov. 20, including 79 in the region containing Moose Jaw alone.
A rescheduled date hasn’t been determined.
