It was a mixed bag of results for the Moose Jaw Warriors in a rare series of Sask AA Hockey League midweek games over the past few nights, with a close win and a couple of tough losses the order of the day.

The U13 Warriors were in action on Wednesday night and battled to a 7-5 victory over the Regina Mustangs, while the U15 Warriors didn’t have as much luck in a 9-3 loss to the Humboldt Broncos the same night. The U18 Warriors were back in action Thursday after their big tournament win in Lethbridge and dropped a 6-3 decision to the Wings.

The U13s are currently 4-3-0 and in eighth place in the South Division standings while having played the fewest games and having as many as six games in hand on their opposition. The U15s are winless in their first 11 games and the U18s are 6-10-1-1 to sit in sixth place in their league.

U13 Warriors 7, Mustangs 5

Moose Jaw trailed 2-1 after the opening frame but scored four times in the second to lead 5-4 heading into the final frame. Weyburn would pull within one with just over 10 minutes to play, but an empty net goal would put things away.

The win was the third straight for the Warriors, who have scored 25 goals in that span.

Rylan Deichert and Braxton Casemore each had a goal and four points, while Connor Livingston had their other marker. Glenn Drummond had 29 saves in the win.

The U13s have two games this weekend, as they host Estevan on Friday at 7 p.m. and rematch the Mustangs at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Both games are at the Red Knight Arena.

Humboldt 9, U15 Warriors 3

The Warriors had a tough task going into Humboldt to face the North Division-leading Broncos, but for the first period, they were right there.

The Broncos needed two goals in the final 27 seconds of the opening frame to emerge with a 3-2 lead, but the rest of the contest didn’t go as well for the local squad, as Humboldt led 5-2 through two before scoring four in the third.

Drayson Silbernagel, Jackson Boyle and Reid Florent scored for Moose Jaw while Peyton Watt faced 45 shots in goal.

The U15s are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 9 when they travel to Weyburn to face the Wings.

Weyburn 6, U18 Warriors 3

The Warriors saw their three-game league winning streak snapped with the loss, as Weyburn overcame a 1-0 first-period deficit with five unanswered goals in the second.

Moose Jaw got back within a pair early in the third, but couldn’t get any closer.

Kaden Berry, Layne Gadd and Colton Flanagan scored for the Warriors, while Theron Watteyne picked up two assists.

Jayce Finiak had 20 saves through two periods, Casson Silbernagel had six saves in the third.

The U18s return to the ice on Thursday, Dec. 7 when they host the Regina Capitals. Game time is 7:45 p.m. at the Bert Hunt.
