Moose Jaw rallies but fall just short in second 13U AA Tier 5 provincial game

Canucks drop 9-8 decision to Dinsmore to sit at 0-2 heading into final round robin game

The Moose Jaw Canucks couldn’t have come much closer to a win and still fallen short than they did at the Baseball Sask 13U AA Tier 5 provincial championship on Saturday afternoon.

Instead, thanks to a 9-8 walk-off win for the Dinsmore Dynamos at Lyle Helland Ball Diamond, the Canucks will need a win in their second game Saturday and a whole lot of help to have a shot at the playoff round.

The Canucks trailed 8-5 heading into the final inning but saw their bats come alive, as Liam Oakes, Jaxsen Erhardt and Everett Dunlop would all score runs to tie the game. They could have done even more damage and taken the lead, but Dinsmore would escape from a bases-loaded jam.

Moose Jaw managed to get the first out in the bottom of the final inning, but Carter Hanke would eventually come around to score on a single to right field by Nate Nelson and give Dinsmore the win.

Ryder Vandesype reached base three times and scored a run for Moose Jaw, while Miles Winter and Liam Dowling each reached twice and scored a run apiece.

The Dynamo took a 4-2 lead out of the second inning and the game was tied 4-4 through four before Dinsmore put up three the next frame to take their lead.

Meyer Sawyer scored three runs for Dinsmore.

The Canucks fell to 0-2 with the loss and closed out their round robin Saturday night against the Kindersley Royals.

Tiebreakers, if necessary, will take place at 9 a.m. on Sunday, followed by the semifinals at 12 p.m. and gold medal game at 3 p.m. at Lyle Helland Ball Diamond.
