Members of the Moose Jaw Police Service will attend a medal ceremony this Monday, June 26.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Performing Art Theatre, and recognizes the hard work and dedication displayed by members of the Moose Jaw Police Service.
There has been no announcement regarding which officers will be decorated at the event.
At the event:
- Six members will receive the Police Exemplary Service Medal
- Five members will receive the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal
Police Exemplary Service Medal
First introduced on August 12, 1983, this medal recognizes police officers who served in a commendable manner and are characterized by industry and good conduct. Recipients need to have served for 20 or more years to qualify.
Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal
Introduced to celebrate the 70th anniversary year of Queen Elizabeth II's Accession to the Throne, this medal recognizes individuals from all walks of life who have made a noteworthy contribution to society. Recipients must be a resident of Saskatchewan, been alive on February 6, 2022 (Her Majesty's 70th anniversary), and have made a contribution to Canadian society.
Medal presentations will be made by his Honour the Honourable Russ Mirasty, who is the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
As well, newly retired personnel will be honoured and a presentation will be made by Chief Bourassa with the Moose Jaw Police Service.
The Performing Art Theatre is located at 461 Langdon Crescent and is adjacent to the Moose Jaw Public Library in Crescent Park.
