Moose Jaw Mustangs going for provincial lacrosse gold in U15 division

Undefeated crew to play for title on Sunday afternoon; U17s into semifinal as U13s move on to consolation

The Moose Jaw Mustangs are going for Sask Lacrosse provincial championship gold in the under-15 division.

The Mustangs booked their spot in the final thanks to a 6-6 tie with the Swift Current Rampage on Saturday afternoon, giving the local crew a 3-0-1 record and first place overall through the round robin.

As a result, they’ll be taking the floor in the title game on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

If things go according to plan, they won’t be the only Mustangs going for gold, either.

The U17 team found themselves in the semifinal against the Regina Snipers on Saturday night thanks to an 11-3 win over the Swift Current Rampage in their quarter-final match-up earlier in the day. The semifinal winner advances the gold medal game against the Weyburn Thrashers on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The U13 Mustangs haven’t had as much luck, losing their final round robin game 13-8 to the Regina Warriors to finish the round robin 0-3. They now play in the consolation semifinal at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Kinsmen Sportsplex. The Standing Buffalo Fighting Sioux and Swift Current Rampage will play for gold in the U13 division at  11 a.m. at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
