The Moose Jaw Canucks Red are back in the win column.
After taking a handful of tough one-run losses in recent Baseball Regina 13U AAA outings, the Canucks didn’t leave much to chance on Tuesday night, scoring eight runs in the fourth inning and going on to a 13-7 victory at Andrie Diamond.
Moose Jaw didn’t get off the greatest of starts, giving up three runs in the first inning and trailing 6-3 through three, but things changed in a big way in the fourth.
The Canucks would send 11 batters to the plate and would score the maximum runs to take an 11-6 edge.
Moose Jaw then tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth to ensure the victory.
Taeve Morhart led the offence with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate that included a run scored and three runs batted in. Nigel Legare was 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI, while Rylan Gray also had a pair of hits and scored a run. Brady Novak, David Choe and Rhett Benaschuk each scored a pair of runs.
Gray got the start on the mound and allowed six runs on seven hits to go along with four walks and four strikeouts over five innings of work. Legare finished things off, holding Weyburn to a single run over the final two innings and striking out three.
The Canucks are now 2-13-1 on the campaign and sit in eighth place in the Baseball Regina standings. They’re back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Swift Current to face the 57’s. Next home action is Wednesday, July 12 when they host the Regina Expos at Andrie Diamond.
The Moose Jaw Canucks Black are currently 9-4-0 on the campaign and sit in third place in the Baseball Regina standings. They’re back on the field on Wednesday night in Regina against the Padres before returning home to host the Yorkton Cardinals on Monday, July 3.
