Five Moose Jaw residents (plus friends from Edmonton and Regina) recently made the long trip to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Calgary to help inspect gift-filled shoeboxes before they are sent to children in Central America and west Africa.

It is the fourth year that leader Mary Ellen Willis has led a group making the seven-hour drive to volunteer with Operation Christmas Child.

“I live Operation Christmas Child year-round,” said Mary, explaining her involvement in the program. “I travelled to Costa Rica (with Samaritan’s Purse) and saw the difference these boxes make in kids’ lives.”

Moose Jaw residents can still help children by packing shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene items and toys. Just visit www.packabox.ca and do it online from the comfort of home.
