Moose cools off in slough near Brownlee

A survey about 10 years ago found there are between 200 and 300 moose living between Lake Diefenbaker and Last Mountain Lake.

A young moose decided to cool off in waist deep slough water on a 25-degree October day near Brownlee.

Moose didn't live in this region until about 20 years ago when a fire on the fringe of the Northern Forest drove them south.

They stayed.
