Early this morning, the Moose Jaw Police Service were involved in an incident that led to the use of a conductive energy weapon (CEW) — a taser.

Just after 3 a.m., police were dispatched to a business on the 0 block of Caribou Street west for an armed robbery.

A male suspect allegedly enter the business, stole some items, and demanded money while armed with a hammer. According to police, the male then fled on foot.

The man was located a short distance away. Police say he would not obey any of their commands while he was allegedly still holding the hammer. This is when the police used the CEW. The suspect was taken into custody.

Yussuf Ali, 37, faces charges of armed robbery and two counts of breaching probation.

Ali will make a court appearance later today.
