MJPS checked nearly 800 vehicles during latest traffic enforcement program

Members of the MJPS, other police services, and partner agencies worked together to identify traffic violations and take enforcement action. This two-day initiative took place at various locations around Moose Jaw.

MOOSE JAW — On June 12 and 13, the Moose Jaw Police (MJPS) hosted a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) blitz. 

Members of the MJPS, other police services, and partner agencies worked together to identify traffic violations and take enforcement action. This two-day initiative took place at various locations around Moose Jaw.

During the two-day project, police checked approximately 780 vehicles, with results showing:

  • 140 tickets issued
  • 197 warnings
  • 528 impaired driving roadside screening tests
  • 17 oral fluid tests (drug-impaired driving) 
  • 15 roadside alcohol/drug suspensions

Enforcement activities focused on offences related to speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, seatbelt use, unlicensed drivers, and commercial vehicle standards. 

STEP is a multi-agency task force dedicated to improving traffic safety across Saskatchewan. Members included municipal police agencies, the RCMP, the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, and representatives from SGI and the Ministries of Justice and Finance.
