The Moose Jaw Miller Express will once again be exceptionally well represented at the Western Canadian Baseball League All-Star Game.

A total of six players will be joined by head coach Eric Marriott and assistant coach Michael Gonzalez at the event on Saturday, Mar. 15 in Okotoks.

Leading the way, of course, is infielder Dawson Tweet. The second-year veteran has been a hitting machine since the start of the season, carrying an average above .500 through the majority of the first half of the campaign. Tweet currently boasts a league-best .478 average while also leading in hits (64), doubles (12) and triples (three).

Younger brother Wyatt Tweet will also be making the trip at catcher after hitting .409 to go along with three home runs despite seeing action in only 18 games due to injury.

Senior Dougie DelaCruz will see action as an outfielder after hitting .331 with five doubles, two home runs and 15 runs batted in through 33 games.

First baseman Austin Gurney will pull double duty in the event. Hitting .269 with two doubles, two triples, two home runs and 19 RBI., Gurney will also be representing the Miller Express in the Home Run Contest.

Brayan Villar will represent the Express starting pitchers, as through four appearances he’s put together a 2.42 earned run average, having allowed only six runs in 22 ⅓ innings to go along with 22 strikeouts and only six walks.

Reliever Haldon Craig rounds out the Moose Jaw all-star crew, and for good reason. Through 14 appearances, Craig has allowed only six earned runs over 24 ⅓ innings, with his 2.21 ERA and 28 strikeouts among the best among league relievers.

The WCBL All-Star Game goes Saturday, July 15 from Seaman Stadium in Okotoks.
