It wasn’t easy, but Alan Millar and Team Canada are now 2-0 at the World Junior Hockey Championshi after beating Slovakia 3-1.

Millar, the Warriors general manager, is part of Team Canada’s management group.

Canada’s offence was front and centre during its opening game on Saturday against Germany, winning 16-2, but goals proved a lot harder to come by against Slovakia on Sunday night.

Canada jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal from defenceman Jordan Spence, who was a healthy scratch in the tournament opener the night before.

That goal held up until the 16:35 mark of the third period, when Dylan Cozens forced a turnover and sent Philip Tomasino in on Slovak goaltender Samuel Hlavaj.

The Slovaks would score moments after, but Jack Quinn would add an empty net goal to secure the victory.

Canada remains at the top of Group A, along with Finland.

Canada is off today. The team will play Switzerland on Tuesday.
