Milestone Flyers and Southwest Cyclones play to 3-3 tie

The next game for the Milestone Flyers will be the regular season home opener this coming Friday (November 19th) at 8:30 pm versus the Saskatoon Comet Rush

The scoring opened early in the first period with Milestone’s Nikita Halyk scoring an unassisted marker at the 18:52 mark.

The Cyclones would respond shortly after as Chase Collier would likewise score an unassisted marker at 17:29 of the first as Chase Collier would skate in on the right wing and shoot a knuckleball through traffic into the blocker side of Flyers netminder Kamrie Kaufmann.

Scoring opportunity and puck possession wise the first period belonged to the Flyers who despite netting three goals had many other stellar opportunities to put the game out of the Cyclones grasp.

Despite the missed opportunities the Flyers did manage to score two more times in the first period to take a 3 - 1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The visiting Milestone squad - which has four players (Nikita Halyk, Ember DuSomme, Sydney Ellingson and Taryn Sandbeck) from Moose Jaw’s Maverick system - would be stymied for the remainder of the game.

Emily Quigley managed to score at the 7:43 mark assisted by Cara Faris.

Caralyn Weisgerber scored the third goal of the first period for the Flyers assisted by Farris.

The second period saw the Cyclones come alive with Anika Piche scoring at the 7:29 mark assisted by Teagan Paul.

The Cyclones would continue their attack and as a result would come up with a power play goal and tie the game at the 5:20 mark. Emerson Summer would score assisted by Abbie Noble.

The tie leaves the Flyers undefeated with a 1 - 0 - 1 regular season record and the Cyclones with a 2 - 2 - 1 record.

The next game for the Milestone Flyers will be the regular season home opener this coming Friday (November 19th) at 8:30 pm versus the Saskatoon Comet Rush.

The Southwest Cyclones play November 27th at 7:15 pm at home in Gull Lake versus the visiting Southeast TS&M Gold Wings.
