Several Moose Jaw organizations will receive grants from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).

It is part of approximately $1.3 million that is being provided to Saskatchewan groups and organizations that conduct charitable gaming fundraisers.

“Our government is pleased to support the volunteers of our province who continue to make a difference in their communities,” Minister Responsible for SLGA Jim Reiter said in a news release. “The charitable gaming grant program provides extra dollars that help these groups deliver their services in a variety of important sectors including public service, emergency services, health care and recreation.”

The breakdown is as follows:

  • Youth Bowling Council (YBC): $93.04
  • Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre: $128.75
  • Fraternal Order of Eagles #3395 Ladies Auxiliary: $142.35

  • Moose Jaw Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 59: $3,281.94

Total: $13,360.22

During the past six months Moose Jaw and the surrounding area has received $24,846.

A grant equal to 25 per cent of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming — including bingo, raffles, breakopen ticket sales, Texas Hold ‘em poker and Monte Carlo events — is paid quarterly to groups and organizations that conduct these events. The SLGA calculates grant payments when groups and organizations submit their charitable gaming reports.
