The final day of advanced polls for the civic election is today, as the last chance for voters to cast their ballots before election day on Nov. 9.
Voters are able to drop by City Hall from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. today to cast an early ballot for their choice of candidates for mayor, city council and Prairie South school board trustees.
The city is encouraging residents to print out their voter registration form and fill it out prior to arriving, to help speed up the wait times, but to wait to sign the bottom of the form until arriving at the polling station.
City Hall is also asking residents to consider wearing a mask inside the building or while in close proximity to other voters in line.
Voters are also reminded that while there are six city council seats up for election, you do not have to mark down six city council candidates on the ballot if you only want to vote for a select few names.
The application to receive a mail-in ballot is also approaching, with the deadline coming up on Nov. 6 by 4:45 p.m.
Advanced polls have been running since Oct. 29, with the city reporting that over 1,600 votes have been cast so far and over 300 mail-in ballots requested — an increase in both from the last municipal election in 2016.
Polls will once again be open on election day from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at two locations in the city, offering one last chance for residents to vote.
The two polling stations are located at the Church of Our Lady for residents on South Hill and the Exhibition Company Convention Centre for residents outside of South Hill.
Check the election page on the city website for a more detailed map of polling stations and for more information on the upcoming election.
