MOOSE JAW — A local greenhouse that many believed would remain closed this spring has announced it will reopen, following a change of heart from its owner.

Greenhouse reopens

Just A Girl In Her Garden officially welcomed customers back on Monday, May 5, at its original location just outside Moose Jaw.

Owner Jacqueline Williams had initially cancelled the greenhouse’s 2025 season following the loss of her brother in March. At the time, the decision felt final.

“I know I said we weren’t opening this year… but sometimes life surprises you and maybe even sends a sign,” Williams said. “After the heartbreaking loss of my brother, I truly didn’t think I could return to the greenhouse. How could I keep doing the thing I love so much, knowing he’s no longer here?”

Williams said she cancelled all plans to operate the greenhouse, convinced she couldn’t face the season with him gone. But then, unexpectedly, a shipment of plants arrived — despite having cancelled all orders.

“Somehow, they still found their way to me. I thought, ‘If this isn’t a sign from my brother, I don’t know what is,’” she said. “He always knew how much the greenhouse meant to me, so I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.”

The return to gardening brought more than just fresh growth — it offered healing.

“And oh, what a feeling it was to be back in the dirt, watching life grow again. The blooms, the colours, the quiet peace of it all — it has brought healing, and even joy, in the midst of loss. I still miss him every single day, but I know he’s with me,” Williams said.

New stop-and-shop location

This season, Just A Girl In Her Garden will also debut a new stop-and-shop studio at a High Street location separate from its former floral shop, which is now permanently closed. The new studio is scheduled to open Friday, May 9, in time for the Mother’s Day weekend.

The studio will offer custom arrangements of fresh-cut flowers prepared weekly, perfect for weddings and any other special occasions.

“We bring in (freshly cut) flowers weekly, and then once we sell out, we’re out for the week,” Williams said.

To save a little time for busy gardeners, the new studio will also carry a curated selection of plants from the greenhouse, including annuals, perennials, houseplants, fertilizers, and giftware.

“There’ll be a good selection of plants in the city, but the full selection of plants will be out at the greenhouse,” she clarified.

Pre-orders are recommended ahead of Mother’s Day for fresh-cut flowers, and delivery remains available throughout the season for a small fee.

With her heart in her work and her brother in her thoughts, Williams is looking forward to reconnecting with the community.

“We can’t wait to welcome you back,” she said. “See you soon, and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this journey.”

Williams is still accepting bookings to provide fresh-cut flower arrangements for your special occasion. To order flowers, simply call, text, or email [email protected].

The greenhouse is located south of Moose Jaw and can be accessed by turning south down Range Road 2272 off Highway 363. You’ll find it 11.2 kilometres ahead and on your right.

In Moose Jaw, Just A Girl In Her Garden is now located at 937 High Street West.

Just A Girl In Her Garden will be open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The greenhouse will remain open until around mid-July or while supplies last.
