With August now here being the last month of summer holidays for the kids, many families will be looking for fun activities to keep them busy. The T. Rex Discovery Centre (TRDC) in Eastend has some impressive activities in store for the remainder of the summer for those interested.

These events are as follows:

Great Horned Owl Presentation on August 13, 2022. This event will teach individuals how the human-tolerant species is thriving in an altered grassland environment.

Celebrate Scotty's Unearthed Day on August 16, 2022. Guests can celebrate Scotty's 31st unearthed day with cupcakes.

Check out Storytime with Scotty's Friends on Saturdays from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. (Great for kids three to eight years old)

Theme Week, individuals can join TRDC Interpreters at their theme week table as they show and tell various fossils and discuss prehistoric animals.

Located at #1 T-rex Drive in Eastend, the TRDC boasts the largest T. rex, Scotty in the CN Scotty gallery and many other discoveries made by Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) palaeontologists.

Another exhibit to highlight is the brand new Tylosaur exhibit. Tylosaurs are a species of mosasaur. Which is a large, predatory marine reptile that is most closely related to modern monitor lizards and snakes. They lived during the late Cretaceous period, around seventy-two million years ago. They roamed a large inland sea that covered most of Saskatchewan at that time. The specimen is around ten meters in length, it was discovered in the hills around Lake Diefenbaker near Sask Landing Provincial Park.

"The T.rex Discovery Centre is an amazing attraction and I encourage Saskatchewan residents to take the opportunity to check out Scotty and the rest of the Discovery Centre's offerings," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. "This new Tylosaur display is just another example of the excellent work being done by our staff at the Discovery Centre and the RSM. There are fun-filled activities and programs for guests of all ages."

In addition to the new exhibit, TRDC has a popular attraction known as the Paleo Lab Experience. This is an interactive area for visitors to engage with TRDC staff and learn about the research that the Centre is doing. Visitors may aid in uncovering the secrets of a field jacket or search for microfossils.

Along with these exhibits and experiences, the TRDC and the Town of Eastend have many fun and interactive activities for the whole family. They are open daily from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. Admission is done by donation.
