A youth has been charged after driving impared and hitting two parked cars.
Just before midnight last night, police received a report of a possible impaired driver. After searching the area, police were unable to locate the vehilce.
Later, while dealing with an unrelated incident, police noticed the vehicle driving west on the 0 block of Caribou Street E. The vehicle was said to be driving on the front rim.
The police located the vehicle on the 900 block of Ninth Ave. NW after it collided with a fence. A lone male occupant was arrested for impaired driving.
As he was being placed in the back of the police vehicle, the male resisted arrested and tried to flee. He then uttered threats to cause harm towards the police officers.
Police say the damage to the vehicle was consistent with having been in an accident. They were then able to locate the alleged accident scene on the 400 block of Athabasca St. East . Two parked vehicles had been hit.
A male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following offences:
- failure to comply with breath demand;
- impaired driving;
- resisting arrest;
- uttering threats; and
- failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
Damage is estimated at $20,000.
