MOOSE JAW — The 2025 edition of the Moose Jaw Hometown Parade is set to kick off in one week but there is still opportunities for businesses, groups and individuals to get involved.
At 7 pm on Thursday June 19th the parade will depart from the Town and Country Mall’s old Sears parking lot, west on Saskatchewan Street East and then south down Main Street to Manitoba Street.
Although there is a week to go until the parade there is still the opportunity to register, pay the $25 fee and create a float to enter the parade.
“People are still able to enter the parade there are applications online or you can stop in at the (Moose Jaw Exhibition’s Association) Office,” George Fowler general manager with the Exhibition said.
The $25 fee helps cover the cost of insurance and security for the parade.
“The more people we have in the parade the better,” Fowler said.
The theme for this year’s Hometown Parade is the “Colours of Summer”.
The theme is subjective and open to interpretation by the entrant.
“Whatever colours they associate with summer. Whether it is (Saskatchewan) (Rough) Rider green or whatever colour you like along that direction .
Not only does appearing in the parade show civic pride for a business $25 as pent in an entry fee is cheap and impactful advertising.
“I think it’s very reasonable advertising. There are thousands of people watching the parade. So you are getting good exposure if you’re promoting your business,” he said.
“It’s more than worth it for you coming out and participating in the parade.”
Fowler said he expects the parade to be a mixture of long time returnees as well as some participants new this year.
He went on to state there is not one defined vehicle for the parade and those taking part run the gamut from tow trucks, Shriners mini-cars, collectors cars, bicycles, horses and anything in between.
The number of entries has been strong but more are welcome,” Fowler said.
“It looks pretty good. We’ve got a big stack of entries. We haven’t added them up yet but it looks pretty good,”he said.
Although entries officially end this weekend, it’s not a set in stone date as late entries are welcome so long as the $25 is paid and the paper work is as signed off.
Spectators are encouraged to bring the lawn chair and perhaps an umbrella if they so desire given what the weather may or may not be.
At the present time, it is unknown with the weather will be like in seven days when the parade is held.
As far as prime viewing spots of the parade, there are everywhere and it’s actually where a person decides what is best for them.
