The second week of action in the Moose Jaw High School Athletic Association junior and junior varsity basketball was a busy one, with 13 games being played. Here’s a look at some of the scores and highlights from reported boys and girls action from Dec. 12 through 15.

Monday, Dec. 12

Junior/Junior Varsity Girls

Brirecrest Christian JV 50, Central Jr 47

Briercrest top scorers -- Keyana Thiessen 27, Aviana Tisdall 7, Bella Korthius 6.

Central top scorers -- Brooklyn Patterson 12, Blake Maltais 9, Shaylan Constable 6

Vanier Jr 38, South Hill JV 34

Vanier top scorers -- Madeline Cruz 11, Tristyn Smith 6

South Hill top scorers -- Madison Smith 12, Jorja Seida-Ruthven 9, Ademide Adewumi 9

Back and forth game throughout. South Hill led by two after the first quarter, Vanier by two at the half. Spirits pull away for 32-27 lead through three quarters.

Junior Varsity Boys

Assiniboia 47, Notre Dame 41

Assiniboia top scorers-- Ruari Liagridonis 14, Redze Geverola 14, Hayden Mansuy 7

Notre Dame top scorers -- Mike Xiong 12, Carter Graw 10, Justin Hooper 10

Notre Dame lead 24-21 at the half, but Assiniboia outscored the Hounds 21-3 in the third quarter. Notre Dame recovered to win the fourth quarter 14-5 but couldn’t make up the deficit.

South Hill 65, Briercrest Christian 51

South Hill top scorers -- Matt Artavia 17, Cole Benallick 16, Cooper Gregor 15, Drew Biette 14

Briercrest top scorers -- Jonathan Cara 13, Josiah Thiessen 11

Briercrest led 35-22 at the half, but the Falcons rallied after the break to get within one 46-45 heading into the third quarter and would outscore the Cougars 21-5 in the final frame.

Wednesday, Dec. 14

Junior Varsity Boys

Assiniboia 71, South Hill 55

The Rockets led from start to finish, taking a 22-15 edge out of the first quarter and leading 41-30 at the half.

Lumsden 71, Peacock 27

Lumsden top scorers -- Ben P. 24, Jacob E. 12, Nolan E. 11

Peacock top scorers -- Jayden Lobb 6, Brandon Blackett 5

Lumsden’s defence was on point throughout the night, holding the Toilers to single digits in points each quarter. Devils take 14-4 lead out of first, lead 36-11 at the half.

Junior/Junior Varsity Girls

Central Jr 40 Peacock Jr 30

Central top scorers -- Brooklyn Watterson 12, Shaylan Constable 10

Peacock top scorers -- Kate Hansen 9, Scout Panko 6

Close game in the first quarter, with the teams tied 8-8, but Cyclones outscore Toilers 17-9 in second to pull away. Peacock held to six points in third quarter, Central scores three in final 10 minutes.

Thursday, Dec. 15

Vanier top scorers -- Kensington Demassi 12, Madeline Cruz 9.

Caronport had a 27-20 lead at halftime.
