High school basketball semifinals set for Thursday at Vanier

Spirits to host Central at 6:20 p.m., Vikings host Central at 8 p.m.; Peacock boys and girls in Swift Current

The Moose Jaw High Schools Athletic Association senior basketball playoffs are once again back on the schedule.

After being delayed due to teacher job action Tuesday night, all four games originally slated for Mar. 5 will now be played Thursday night at Vanier and in Swift Current.

The girls will hit the court first, as the second-place Spirits (6-2) will host the third-place Cyclones (4-4) at 6:20 p.m., followed by the fourth-place Vikings (1-6) hosting first-place Central (6-1) at 8 p.m.

The other two semifinals will see the Peacock Toilers at Swift Current, with the unbeaten Ardens (8-0) hosting the Toilers in the girls semifinal at 5:50 p.m., while the boys semifinal will be a battle of teams with identical records when the Colts and Toilers take the court at 8 p.m.

The semifinal winners advance to the championship final on Monday, Mar. 11, with the girls final at 6:20 p.m. and boys final at 8 p.m.. Both games will be at Sask Polytechnic.
