Garage sale enthusiasts, get ready to start searching for all those great deals you missed out on this spring.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority announced a new series of measures under Phase 4 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan on Tuesday, including allowing garage and yard sales to take place for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

While the sales can finally take place, there will naturally be several measures to be followed in order to maintain safety.

That includes observing gathering restrictions, which remain at 30 people as long as physical distancing can be maintained, as well as heightened sanitation, signage that encourages social distancing and advice with regards to payment options.

Sales must be held by a single household, group events are not currently permitted.

Door-to-door canvassing and sales are also now allowed. Physical distancing is to be maintained at all times, and guidelines include frequent hand hygiene, and no sharing of common materials including pens, pencils and promotional material.

A series of modifications loosening other restrictions were also put in place beginning July 21:

  • Drive-in theatres: reducing distance between vehicles to two metres, down from five metres.
  • Retail guidelines, libraries and places of worship: reducing the length of time that returned or donated items must be held to 24 hours, down from 72 hours.
  • Fitness facilities: permitting 24-hour access to fitness facilities, and ensuring registration of guests to facilitate contact tracing, if required.
  • Campgrounds: laundry facilities are now able to open following new guidelines for safe operation.
