Pharmacies in Saskatchewan are set to begin delivering COVID-19 vaccines later this week, with four pharmacies in Moose Jaw included on the list of participating locations.

Select pharmacies in 14 communities across the province will be taking part in the next phase of the vaccine plan, delivering immunizations by appointment to eligible residents.

In Moose Jaw, vaccines will be available at:

  • Loblaws Pharmacy (30 Thatcher Drive E);
  • Moose Jaw Co-op Pharmacy at Hillcrest (7A Thatcher Drive E);
  • Safeway Pharmacy (200 1st Ave NW);
  • And TLC Pharmacy in the Town n’ Country Mall (149 - 1235 Main Street N).

Pharmacies will receive vaccines on April 29, with the first shipment of the pilot program supplying PfizerBioNTech vaccines to participating locations.

Residents are to contact individual pharmacies directly to book an appointment for vaccination, as procedures and availability will vary. Appointments at pharmacies will also follow the province’s eligibility structure, which means they will be open to residents within the current age range of 44 and older at this time.

Those looking to book with Moose Jaw Co-op Pharmacy or Loblaws Pharmacy can do so by phone. Safeway Pharmacy is using an online appointment booking tool, found at pharmacyappointments.ca.

“As soon as the Government of Saskatchewan announced the pilot locations, we were flooded with calls for appointments from our community,” said Michaela Turner, manager of marketing and community relations at Moose Jaw Co-op.  “It’s encouraging to see that so many are willing to be vaccinated. We thank anyone interested in booking an appointment, and for being patient as we begin this process.”

TLC Pharmacy has confirmed that it has already filled its available 150 appointments and is unable to take more bookings until further rollout of the program. In the future, when more appointments come open, booking at TLC Pharmacy is available by phone and possibly through an online form still in development.

Locations delivering vaccines will also be immunizing staff who work in pharmacies or store housing pharmacies, as a priority population.

Currently, up to 63 pharmacies will be participating in the pilot program to deliver vaccines, and public health plans to add more communities over the following weeks as vaccine becomes more available.
