2)  Airstrikes cut power and water supplies to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, part of what the country’s president called an expanding Russian campaign to drive the nation into the cold and dark.

3) Some businesses and amenities on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast have been told to stop using all treated drinking water due to severe drought, but officials say there's no need to panic.

4) Netflix reversed its recent subscriber losses with a summertime gain that management is hoping to build upon with the upcoming launch of a cheaper version of the video streaming service that will include ads for the first time.

5) A record 23 Canadians will be on opening-night rosters as the NBA tips off its regular season, making this the ninth consecutive season that Canada is the second most represented country in the league, behind only the United States.
