Blaze sent smoke rising over area around community gardens before being extinguished
CP railyard fire
The Moose Jaw Fire Department made quick work of a grass fire next to the CP railyards on Saturday night.

The Moose Jaw Fire Department didn’t need a lot of time to take care of a grass fire next to the Canadian Pacific Railway railyard on Saturday night.

Fire crews were called out to the area near the Yara Community Gardens for the blaze around 8 p.m., with the fire sending brown smoke up over the area and burning a tract of grass next to a retaining wall and fuel storage facility.

No CP facilities were seriously threatened and the fire department was able to control the blaze moments after arriving on site.

No cause for the fire has been released.
