The 11th annual edition of the Little Princess Ball – royally presented by K+S Potash Canada – took place Saturday and Sunday at the Heritage Inn and featured a packed house both evenings, with princesses and princes having a chance to meet their heroes from Disney movies while raising plenty of funds for a good cause.
“All the credit goes to the Little Princess Ball committee and the hundreds of hours they put into this,” said Kelly McElree, executive director of the MJHF. “Months and months of planning to look after every single detail goes into this and it brings so many bright smiles to the children of this community.”
This year, the funds have been earmarked for the purchase of a new birthing bed in the women’s health unit at the F.H. Wigmore Hospital.
“We would not be able to do that without the generosity of everyone who attended the Little Princess Ball over the last two days and the outstanding efforts of Elaine Crocker and her amazing committee… They’re a family and they put their heart and soul into this in order to make this what it is.”
The featured princess for this year’s event was Moana from the movie of the same name (see main story), with the banquet room decorated to feature characters and paraphernalia from the wildly popular Disney film.
“The committee thinks ‘how can we create a more magical event’ every year and every year they surpass that with the efforts they put in,” McElree said. “Moose Jaw is filled with volunteers with the biggest hearts in Canada, and nowhere is that better demonstrated than the Princess Ball.
“We’re grateful to everyone who attends and who volunteers for this event, it’s truly is a little bit of magic in Moose Jaw this weekend.”
