Eight residents appointed to fill vacancies on city committees

City council has appointed eight residents to several municipal committees that had several long-standing vacancies.

During its regular meeting on Aug. 24, council unanimously approved the following appointments:

  • Michelle Armstrong and Sara Cull to the murals project management committee, with their term of office to commence immediately and conclude on Dec. 31, 2021, or until a successor is appointed
     
  • Sara Cull and Brett Hagan to the parks, recreation and facilities advisory committee, with their term of office to commence immediately and conclude on Dec. 31, 2021, or until a successor is appointed
     
  • Emma Moore as the youth representative to the public works, infrastructure and environment advisory committee, with her term of office to commence immediately and conclude on Dec. 31, 2021, or until a successor is appointed
     
  • Callum Maitland, Andrew Peterson and Affaf Kashif to the youth advisory committee, with their term to commence Sept. 1 and to conclude on June 30, 2021.

Appointment of city councillors

Several city councillors were also given new duties that will commence on Sept. 1 and finish on Nov. 8:

  • Coun. Chris Warren as deputy mayor
  • Coun. Crystal Froese as chair of the executive committee
  • Coun. Dawn Luhning as chair of the personnel committee

The next regular council meeting is Monday, Sept. 14.
