In a game that turned into a battle of the bullpens, the Edmonton Prospects ended up having just a bit more luck on their side than the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Friday night in Kindersley.

The Prospects scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning and tacked on another insurance marker in the seventh on their way to a 7-5 victory in Western Canadian Baseball League action.

Triston Seitz got the start for the Miller Express in his ninth appearance of the season -- third highest in the league behind teammate and Moose Jaw closer Jesse Schotlz and Edmonton’s Ethan Cernohous -- and allowed four runs on five hits in three innings of work.

Only two of those runs were earned, though, as an error in the second inning led to the Prospects scoring three runs and eventually building a 4-2 lead through three.

Nick Hill took over on the mound for Moose Jaw in the fourth and tossed two scoreless innings before Edmonton put up their pair in the sixth, courtesy a two-run double off the bat of Caleb Feurerstake.

Cam O’Reilly got one out in the seventh, allowing a run on two hits and two walks, before J.J. Padilla closed out the frame and picked up the first out in the eighth. Livio Bundi took over from there and struck out both batters he faced.

Edmonton starter Kole Jessamine last 3 ⅔ innings, and a quartet of relievers would combine to allow only two runs on four hits the rest of the way.

Luke Shekeryk continued to show all sorts of power in his short time with the Miller Express, hitting a solo home run in the third inning. The round-tripper was his second in as many games with Moose Jaw.

Zach Campbell scored a pair of runs for the Miller Express, while Austin Gurney was 2-for-3 with a double and Nate Mensik 2-for-5 with a two-bagger.

Jordan Phillips had a 4-for-4 night for Edmonton that included two runs and two RBI.

The Miller Express are now 9-6 on the season and sit a half-game back of the Swift Current 57’s for first place in the WCBL East Division.

Moose Jaw is right back in action Saturday night as they take on the West Division-leading Okotoks Dawgs.
