Driver faces several charges after June 24 accident on city's east side

Charges have been laid following an accident on June 24 on the 900 block of Athabasca St. East.

Police say they attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on an SUV without a license plate. The male driver of the vehicle allegedly refused to stop and fled from police at a high rate of speed leaving city limits. 

The vehicle later returned to Moose Jaw and was involved in a collision in the 1000/900 Block of Athabasca Street East. The suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle, a power pole, a fence, and then came to rest in a yard against a tree.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted with the help of Moose Jaw Fire Department and EMS. He was arrested on scene and was transported to Regina with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The occupant of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Zackery Michael Earl Marckoski, 27, is charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • flight from police
  • impaired driving causing bodily harm
  • dangerous driving causing bodily harm
  • driving while prohibited
  • possessing a weapon while prohibited x4
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x2
  • possession of a prohibited weapon

Marckoski is also charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • possession of LSD
  • possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking

Marckoski has been remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.
