City hall has hired a new development officer to help oversee the zoning bylaw and all that comes with enforcing it.
Drew Bakken started work with the City of Moose Jaw on Sept. 7 as a development planner, while one of his first duties has been to act as a development officer for the municipality. To administer the zoning bylaw, though, city council had to appoint him as per instructions in that bylaw.
Appointing Bakken as a development officer for the City of Moose Jaw is exactly what council did during its Sept. 27 regular meeting, after the six-member body unanimously voted in favour of his appointment.
Bakken will take zoning applications from residents, while he will be the first person residents talk to when they visit the third floor of city hall to discuss these types of issues, explained city manager Jim Puffalt.
The next regular council meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 12.
