The Moose Jaw Humane Society is participating in its annual “Sockraiser” event which will run until Giving Tuesday, November 30th.

The Humane Society is accepting donations of new socks for men, women and children. On Giving Tuesday they will present the donations to Riverside Mission and the Moose Jaw Transition House.

“We were told that socks are one of the items often overlooked when people are donating,” said Donna Fritzke, fundraising coordinator for the Moose Jaw Humane Society.

Giving Tuesday is a national day of generous movement with a mission to build a world where generosity is encouraged in the aspect of every day life.

“Our community is so generous when it comes to giving and we are always receiving. We just want to be able to do something that truly gives back to our community. Both the Moose Jaw Transition House and Riverside Mission are vital organizations within our community,” said Fritzke.

“The Humane Society continues to work diligently to positively impact the lives of not only animals but also humans. On a regular basis we see every emotion from the excitement of adopting a new pet to grieving the loss of a pet and having the owners access our crematorium. You never know who is going to come through the front door. The one thing that people might not know about the shelter is the effort that goes into finding the most perfect homes for every animal in our care.”

The Moose Jaw Humane Society has a donation box located in the front porch of their shelter for donations to be dropped off in advance of November 30th.
